It's here again - Patient Appreciation Week. We do our best to appreciate you all year round but starting 10 years ago, we decided to pick one week in September and really let you know. It's mainly just a chance for me to give away some cool promotional stuff but this year we will have our greatest grand prize ever! This year our patients will be vying for a Brand New Dell Netbook - a 10" laptop computer! Every patient visit during this week will earn one entry into the drawing. If you have a massage and an adjustment you'll get two entries. Even Better - If you refer a new patient anytime from now until the end of our Patient Appreciation Week you will earn three (3!) entries in the drawing.

Now's the time to tell your friends and family about the professional care they can receive at Florida Chiropractor. Call us today to get on the schedule. It's filling up fast. Put it on your calendars - September 21-25.

Consumer Reports Rates Chiropractors Above MDs

In case you missed it, a recent Consumer Reports survey of over 14,000 of its readers rated chiropractic as their #1 choice for treating back pain. car accident

The Crash - Serialized Story Of My Auto Accident - Part 2

October 12, 2004 - I returned to the office after getting my hair cut. I smiled as I drove. I had made the last payment on my pickup truck that month. As I approached the intersection at 1st Ave. South and 58th Street, I started to overtake a Chevy Suburban that was slowing for a red light. The light turned green and I began to pass. I was in the far left lane and just as I passed by her window I caught a glimpse of her turning the steering wheel to the left. There wasn't much I could do. Midway through the intersection the suburban struck the right side of my vehicle. The impact jerked my truck into a sideways skid, the tires chirped a couple of times and then caught the asphalt throwing my truck into the air. My recollection is that it only turned over once but a witness said, "that truck flipped over three times!".

It came to rest on its roof 50 yards through the intersection. All the windows had shattered. Without thinking I unlatched my seat belt and dropped to the ceiling. I crawled through the shattered window and stumbled to the curb. After a quick assessment I discovered that I was going to be okay - other than embedded glass in my forehead, arm and right leg, there were no missing parts. The decisions that I made in the following minutes had profound effects on my legal case. Next month I'll tell you what I did right and what you should do differently. For what it's worth I've always forgiven the mistake made by the other driver. For just a moment she had forgotten that she was on a one way street. At the intersection she looked up the street for oncoming cars and seeing none, thought it was okay to turn. The accident reminds me to stay in the present when you're driving. It's a habit that could save your life.
